Prancing through the snow took Paradox back to her youth. The carefree filly that did nothing but play with her friends, toy with the emotions of the boys in the herd, and be the apple of her parents eyes. She enjoyed that life, who wouldn't? She didn't have any responsibility, not that she had much now, but still she didn't have the burden of being a adult. At age seven, Paradox didn't really know what she was supposed to be doing. She had her fun, of course. But sometimes she wished she could return to her non-sadistic personality, and find a real relationship. The kind that were described as fairytales.
Smirking, Paradox pawed the frozen earth. Her blue orbs scanned the snow filled landscape. No, she was defiantly not a average mare who dreamt about having fillies and colts and filling up a herd with horses who enjoyed gossip and betrayal. She was one of a kind, maybe a bit sadistic perhaps, but where was the fun if she wasn't who she was? As far as she could remember, she had never been the filly looking for a real relationship, she had been looking for the next high of making the brainless colts falling in love with her. Yes, that is who she was.
Shaking the memories away, she trotted forward. Feeling the icy nip in the air refreshed her mind, nothing felt better then the bitter air of wind and snow. Eyeing the shelter ahead, Paradox debated whether she should head inside. Paradox knew if she stayed out in the cold much longer her ears would start to numb and her body would start shut down. Yet there was something that made her want to stay outside, to test how long she could make it.
Deciding to head to the shelter, Paradox picked up pace and kicked up snow as se neared the shelter. Stopping just short of the shelter, Paradox stood stone still as she looked inside. Wooden floors replaced the frozen ground, wood walls closed the outside out and Paradox could feel the heat drifting out. Tilting her head, Paradox took several more steps that ended with her hitting the wooden floor and being surrounded by heat. Flicking her ears, she scanned the inside for danger.

⌘ CINDER ⌘ I do what I love, and I love what I do
Temperatures were still frigid among the lands. Some fared worse than others, draped in the ruthless robes of winter. The tall bronc had traveled far from his chosen home in Asteria to the chillier lands sheltered by the kingdom of Boreas. In all his years alive, he had wasted so many in Kairos. As far as his silver orbs could see, Cinder had never seen the world in quite this way before. Towering forms broke the horizon and the monotony of forests that swept beside him. Lead him here. Cinder's steps did not cease, he did not show fear for trespassing. The snow chilled his legs beneath his joints. The air kissed his frame, although he had been out in the cold so long that he hardly noticed the chill anymore. Cinder had caught the scent of others, it was the first scent for miles. Between here and Asteria, the lands seemed scarce. As if no life dared venture out into the early temperatures of spring. Temperatures he never feared for his draft build had kept him pleasantly warm.
A flicker of movement near the growing structure caught his gaze. His auds flickered with interest as he changed his course to go and join whoever had disappeared. The sun appeared to be setting, and if there was any hope of comfort, he was going to take it. Cinder was unafraid of others, but he did not dare battle the elements. Having nothing but respect for nature and her absolute power, Cinder heeded each warning given to him. The structure grew ever larger until he was dwarfed beside it. A warmth radiated through the strange cave-like structure. It was not alike his new home. It smelled of the forests, damp and comforting. Though it was nothing like the large towers in Asteria, nor was it like Kairos ominous castle. The temperatures here in Boreas were similar, but part of him felt a homier vibe from the place.
Cinder flicked his auds as he heard the shuffling of feet, mimicking the sound of stone almost. It was more hollow, and piqued his interest. He rounded the corner to the entrance to catch a glimpse of an overo mare scanning the shelter. Cinder waited until she had moved a comfortable distance away from the entrance before allowing himself to step inside. Startled by the sound, though he remained silent as he peered at the ground now beneath his feet. He nearly forgot of the mare who he assumed had been the movement that attracted him to this spot. He noted the warmth that washed over his body, warming parts of him that began to ache from exposure to the cold. Cinder faced her finally, noting the adornments and paint upon her body. "What interesting decorations." He stated finally, ignoring the potential to introduce himself for the moment.
"I've never been to Boreas before. It's much colder than Kairos could ever hope to be... and a strangely homier and more welcoming aura than Asteria." He mused on, part of his Kairosian upbringing came through, though it was not unpleasant this time. "I go by Cinder."

Letting her eyes adjust to the darker interior of the shelter, Paradox scanned the area. Interesting, though she had never been inside here before, she had been inside caves before but this was slightly different. The walls weren't stone like a cave but wood. In the back of the structure there were steps leading up and disappearing into the ceiling. Interesting, Paradox couldn't help but to itch to explore the upper level of this awkward building. She was about to take a step forward when she suddenly felt another presence enter in behind her. Swinging her head around, she watched as stallion, taller then herself, stepped inside, the space suddenly feeling cramped. Tucking her head to her chest, she flicked her ears.
Smirking, she watched as he looked her over. Yes, well I do enjoy being interesting, Paradox said plainly, her voice echoed softly throughout the room. Letting her eyes roam over the large stallion, she looked at the spots that dotted his flank to the stripes on his front legs. Looking past him, she felt a drift of cold air and breathed in deeply. Aw, how she missed that cold right now. Knowing she would have to wait until morning before she could return to her beloved weather, she'd be a fool to enter the low temps once the darkness took over. Hearing the stallion speak brought Paradox's attention back to him.
I have never had the discomfort of being in either of those territories so I will just have to take your word on it Paradox said with false sweetness. She truly hadn't, and maybe one day she wouldn't mind exploring past the boundaries of the Boreas land, but for now she had plenty to explore within the borders. Cinder, he had said was his name. Tilting her head slightly, she couldn't picture that name with his appearance. Although, she has had such limited communication with equines this past year, she couldn't help but feel as if she was out of touch with her usual spark of mirth. Cedar is it? Well, I go by Paradox.

⌘ CINDER ⌘ And I don't have the heart that you think I do I think you're in love with the pain you feel
Cinder could sense hesitation, or perhaps apprehension at his presence. She studied him, though her features told him that she thought this conversation already beneath her. Or perhaps it was something else. He wasn't sure, and he wasn't overly concerned with her reason either. He mustered a placating smile at her words. Simply peering at her silently until she was quite done with her response. Cinder remained quiet, ignoring the fact that she had completely disregarded his name. Calling him something perhaps more to her suiting. Her introduction was what really got him however. The few moments of interaction with her seemed to tell him the name fit. Cinder inhaled the warm air, and ignored the sting of his body warming now. "I suppose you would know best, wouldn't you? I'm sure everyone likes being interesting, special." Cinder responded finally, his own sweet sounding sarcasm slipping out. "I suppose one can dream."
He took a few steps closer. Feeling much to large in this cramped space, but he would endure it for the warmth it provided him. "Discomfort? How do you come to the conclusion that those places are uncomfortable if you have never tread there? Seems pretty ignorant." He observed aloud. Cinder wasn't exactly trying to upset her, but he also didn't really care if he did. Words were just words. Cinder found himself withdrawing from the idea of conversation, having a slightly sour taste in his mouth already. "Oh do you? That seems fitting. Tell me, do you also like to contradict yourself?" He still had that placating smile on his face as he waited for a response. Any hope for him to be pleasant was gone, as his pride seemed to rear it's head. He didn't warm up to disrespectful equines, though he knew he was no better playing their game.
Cinder made to move past her towards the doorway that lead upwards. Peering his tall head into the darkness of the tunnel. His silver gaze caught a flickering that piqued his interest, and he retracted his neck once more. Ignoring her need for personal space. "Or maybe you're scared to leave home, hm? It's nice to live in the safety of one place, where everything is familiar. It doesn't stay that way for long. What'd you think, Paradigm?" Cinder turned his eyes upon her once more, still wearing his stupid smile. Though inside he was more amused than he let on. Part of him annoyed, but part of him enjoyed a bit of banter with someone who could stand his flames.

Watching the stallion, Cinder, process her words, Paradox didn't really feel bad mistaking his name. In her defense, it was a honest mistake when she said the wrong name. She truly hadn't meant anything by it. However, she didn't really care either way but she may have felt a sliver of regret, but she quickly filed that away within her brain to be looked at later. Listening to his words as he began to speak brought a smile to her lips. She loved bantering. At times, it hurt her feelings when one would twist her words to use against her, yet it brought her some kind of high to continue in it. Everyone needs dreams, Cedar Paradox said sweetly.
Listening to his tone change made Paradox listen carefully to his words. True, she was often ignorant when it came to new things. She was one of those horses that didn't take anything at face value. Anything or any place can be uncomfortable if one has never been to the place of subject, however I did not say I wouldn't go there, I said I had not been there Paradox retorted. Watching as he looked past her and walked towards her, purposely walking close to her. If he thought he could intimidate her by invading her personal space, well he could try as hard as his heart desired but she could take pretty much anything he could dish out. A memory momentary overtook her senses as a flash back surrounded her of the first time someone had tried to intimidate her into doing what he had expected.
"My dear Pada, you are so young that I truly believe the good folks of your old home haven't ruined you yet" he mumbled as he stood closely to her, mumbling into her mane, his breath playing on her ear. Maximus stood only at 15'3 but Paradox had only been a stout 14'1 at the time. Paradox had stood stone still, hoping he would leave her be. Of course he had used his intimidating size, that's how she had seen him back then, to mold her to his expectations.
Sharpening her eyes, fire erupted within them. She wasn't afraid of much, and she was hardly afraid of leaving her home. No one is ever safe, Cedar, no matter where they are or where they call home Paradox said stiffly. Turning her body away from him, so her eyes settled on his face, she let a smirk slip onto her lips. I may not care to go exploring into unknown territories however I do love learning new things. If the lands you have traveled though are so grand, why don't you explain them to me and maybe one day, say when I am no longer so afraid of the unknown Paradox paused, emphasizing the sarcasm on how terribly afraid she was. I can travel there and be sure of what I will find.
occ// I totally mistook Cinder's name for Cedar. In a way its totally Para but it was a total mistake XD tagged// Cinder

⌘ CINDER ⌘ And I don't have the heart that you think I do I think you're in love with the pain you feel
The painted mare did not shuffle away from him when he drew close to her. Cinder couldn't say he was surprised, or unsurprised by it. Most would be uncomfortable with a stranger invading their space, but it seemed she was unperturbed. Cinder settled on watching her, his thorns flickering as he listened to her own retort. The sour taste quickly fading from his mouth the longer he remained quiet. "Do they need them? Really? Or do they just need a purpose?" Cinder asked suddenly, earnestly curious to know what she thought about his question. His dark frame wavered as he shifted his weight to seek more comfort upon his feet. He was beginning to enjoy the heat seeping back into his limbs, though there was a certain pain he was sure was common enough in cooler temperatures. Paradox corrected Cinder in a very vehement way, a fire erupting in her orbs. A laugh escaped his lips, though he did not dare speak now. Instead he remained listening with a large grin across his face.
Paradox did make some relatively good points, and she had indeed put him in his place it would seem. Once her voice fell quiet once more. Cinder took a few moments to try and detect the cause of the flickering overhead. Small crackles could be heard, but soon enough he returned his attention upon the mare in front of him. "I suppose you did say you hadn't been there. I suppose you're also correct to say new things are often uncomfortable." He began tentatively at first, retracing the conversation's path back to initial indignation towards him. The darkened coloured brute straightened his posture a bit more, inhaling the warm air. Feeling more content the more his body warmed. His mane shifted, reminding him that it was still frozen. Some fibers clung so tightly to the hair on his body that it caused pain. "Maybe if you spend you're whole time looking for signs of danger. You'll be seeing or expecting it around every corner. Sounds like an exhausting way to live." Cinder mused out loud.
It wasn't that he wasn't afraid of things. He just wasn't always on the alert. If his senses asked him to be, he fell to their whim. He wasn't about to go looking for signs of turmoil where it simply wasn't. Cinder found himself further admiring the painted markings on her features. Quietly as he thought more about what she had said. Sarcastically asking for what she could find if she ventured there. "Kairos. Powerful structures. Equines far too proud, and harsh to be worth spending time with. Asteria however, much more humble. The structures have a quietness to them, completely unalike the cold alleys of Kairos."
Cinder gave her another smug grin once more. "Have I quelled your worries about the frightening and dangerous outer worlds?" He gave a bit of a chuckle, returning his own brand of sarcasm to her.

She listened as Cinder began to speak again. Thinking about his reply, Paradox tilted her head and stared at him. She could see how one would assume dreams were pointless because they weren't reality however dreams gave you motivation to try to achieve something greater in life and sometimes one would actually reach their dreams. Dreams, I think, are a fantastic thing. Sure one may see them as silly or pointless she paused as she raised her eyes to his face, but in the end they push you to try and find a way to make your life meaningful. Paradox stated. She wasn't really sure if she answered his question or not but then he started talking again and she had to strain to catch his next words over her own thoughts swirling around her mind.
Maybe but then if you never expect it and it comes when you're not expecting it, you may not have a life to live Paradox mumbled. She enjoyed life, and although she may expect trouble, it isn't like she wasn't living. She may take precautions when needed but she didn't mind throwing caution to the wind and live. Sometimes. Shifting her gaze, she let it eyes settle on his mane as he shifted his pose. Some of the strands of his mane were still frozen and were slowly starting to soften. Shifting her neck, Paradox felt her mane flow freely. She was thawed out. Maybe because she was closer to the ground? That didn't make sense, since heat rose. Maybe he hd been outside longer then she had. Yes, that made more sense then her first reasoning.
Listening as he described the kingdoms, a small smile curved her lips. He hadn't said anything about Halcyon. Had he forgotten about tha kingdom or had he not been there yet? I have never been fond of prideful equines she stated. It was the truth, she hated those were felt they were higher then god himself. Shifting her legs, she felt the blood flow into them as she moved them slightly. And what about Halcyon? Do you have any opinions of that kingdom? she asked.
Hearing the sarcasm in his voice when he asked if he quelled her fears. Chuckling to herself, she smiled. Well, you have shown a light on them that's for sure. The next time I feel I want to explore, maybe I shall take a trip down to Kairos she stated.

⌘ CINDER ⌘ And I don't have the heart that you think I do I think you're in love with the pain you feel
His auds twitched as she spoke again. Cinder had caught her contemplation on his words regarding dreams. He smiled faintly, and almost bitterly as he listened to how she thought them. She wasn't wrong, but he disagreed. Dreams were dreams, nothing more. Actions and ambitions to him were much more realistic than the mere imagery or fantasies of others. "I think we'll have to agree to disagree about dreams. I don't find them realistic, nor motivating. I find them a bit foolish truthfully." Cinder responded after a few moments of silence. There was no contempt, nor arrogance in his tones. Though he so craved to spew his true inner thoughts, he quietly reminded himself that the judgemental part of him was no longer necessary. Cinder drew in steady breaths as he listened further. It seemed almost as if she were trying to 'correct' him on viewpoints.
Cinder decided she was likely just playing devil's advocate and did not feel need to call out her statements. "I never said to go without expecting it. There can be middle ground can't there? To be oblivious to potential dangers is foolish, as is always expecting them.. though that's exhausting. Follow me now?" He asked her, his silver optics trained on her elegantly decorated pelt. Cinder nearly chuckled aloud when she said she wasn't fond prideful equines. Next the mare, Paradox, asked him what he thought of Halcyon. He gave a another smile, more humbled than his previous ones. "I have not traveled there yet. I have lived and wasted much of my time amongst prideful and cruel equines." He answered her calmly, feeling as though he were finally settling into a pleasant conversation.
Cinder took a few more steps toward the flickering lights overhead. His auds twitched again when she said she'd probably visit Kairos if she grew curious. He laughed slightly, as he took a few steps in the direction that was up. "If you aren't fond of prideful equines, I wouldn't recommend Kairos. Save for the structures it's pretty awful." He mused again, his tones faintly bitter as he responded. He gave her another glance with his mercury optics. "Want to explore with me?" Cinder invited finally, a bit of a coy smile now on his kissers. He wouldn't say he found her a friend, but he wasn't about to complain about company now.
