P Y R A The summer morning was still. Perhaps the silence should have been of a bit of concern, but the thought was lost on Pyra. Certainly, subconsciously, she may have been aware of the eerie quietness permeating the hillside, but after speaking a few, self-assuring whispers, the thought was dismissed from her mind. Aiden, her hawk companion, was nowhere in sight, but Pyra did not mind his absence terribly. He was a hunter, a carnivore, and he needed to eat as much as any of them. If she was being totally honest, she was grateful that he decided to dine elsewhere, away from her eyes. She did not care for bloodshed. As she walked, her steps unhurried, she found herself glancing over her shoulder every so often in some attempt to locate movement along the landscape. Nothing. And, if there was something, the thick, early morning fog clinging to the hillside made it difficult for her to notice. So she pressed on, her measured breaths and gentle footfalls the only sounds her ears could pick up on, making her way across the Aeon Bluffs on some self-assigned patrol. It was what she knew how to do, and the task gave her a good way to fill her time.
ATLANTA - Sorry for the wait! Hopefully, you're still down for a predator attack thread. Also marking this as semi-open, in case any other Halcyonians wish to join in. You're more than welcome to! : )

The fog softened the harsh edges of the bluffs, cutting silently over the valley. The alabaster mare slid effortlessly through the blanket, white on white, a mere ghost in the early light of the morning. Her steps were sure, though visibility was far from ideal, she knew every inch of Halcyon. She stood on a higher bluff, her violet blue eyes scanning for life on the trails below her. Something was not right, perhaps it was just the indecent weather that had rolled in but wariness had settled in to Alphess bones and she was on high alert. Her harks perched stiffly upon her dome, the silence that surrounded her brought no comfort. Her gaze turned skyward and sought out the blurred silhouette of her companion, Rhys. He circled slowly, each round bringing him closer to Atlanta. She turned her attention back to surveying the lands, she moved forward along the bluff, carefully watching and listening. She couldn’t shake the feeling of being watch, she was silently thankful for her second set of eyes in the sky.
Movement caught her attention, a break in the fog revealed a red roan mare only a bit away, familiarity crossed Atlanta’s features. This mare had been at the herd gathering and she had caught Atlanta’s eye, something about her demeanor intrigued the Alphess that morning. The familiarity was taken over by concern of course, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was not right and did not feel at east having one of her herd members wandering alone. Atlanta picked up a brisk walk, gliding through the fog, the damp droplet clinging to her ivory hide. Reaching an acceptable distance from the mare she let out a low nicker as not to startle her. “Good morrow, dear one, perhaps I could join you on your walk?” she offered a warm smile, always open and friendly, the mare continued “I have this wretched feeling about this fog and I don’t think it is safe to travel alone until it clears.”

P Y R A Slipping into routine was easy, natural. Pyra vaguely recalled the duties she undertook in her old herd, the rounds she would make to ensure that all members were accounted for and that the territory remained safe. This was not that herd, but still, she found comfort in the familiarity of patrolling the lands of Halcyon. She had succumbed to a deeper thought process, to those memories, allowing herself to get fully lost in her work. So when a gentle nicker sounded she admittedly started, her hooves clattering against the rocky ground over which she just so happened to be walking as she straightened herself. After a moment, she spotted her—the Halcyon Alphess. Atlanta. Moving through the shroud with grace and silence, almost ghost-like in her demeanor. But if Pyra had been frightened initially, she calmed down a few moments later. Her ears swiveled forward to capture the words of the white mare, and at her inquiry Pyra dipped her head politely. "Of course, Alphess," she offered. "I agree. Seems to have descended out of nowhere." She chuckled gently, moving to continue along the bluff. "How are you this morning?" It was small talk, or her attempt at it, anyway. And despite her casual tone, she glanced behind her, ever vigilant, because she still couldn’t shake the eerie feeling that hung in the air just as the fog did.
ATLANTA - Not at all! Sorry if mine's a tad short itself, lol.

The red mare, Pyra, seemed lost in thought as Atlanta approached, she watched as the mare startled slightly and eventually found the Alphess in the fog, her demeanor calming in recognition. An amused smile flashed briefly across Atlantas features, she must blend in quite well with the less than ideal weather that had flooded the lands to have startled poor Pyra. She offered an apologetic smile and watched as she dipped her head out of polietness. Atlanta hadn’t grown used to the formalities of being an Alphess and often felt undeserving of such graces, she and her herd members were equal in her eyes. Despite this she lowered her head in acknowledgement, her dished façade dipping gracefully below her withers. The mares words caught her ears and she listened intently ‘Of course, Alphess…I agree. Seems to have descended out of nowhere.’ She fell into step beside the crimson fae, their heights nearly identical.
‘How are you this morning?’ she regarded this question openly for a moment, violet blue voids shifting to the dense mist ahead before shifting back to eye the mare curiously “If I am being honest, Pyra, I am quite vexed. I fear for the safety of my herd in this fog, I keep picturing someone tumbling over the bluffs and I fear there are things far worse lurking in this cloak.” She offered a small grimace of a smile, “Perhaps I am simply thinking too much. I do tend to do that.” Atlanta shook her dome, ridding herself of the damp droplets that clung to her violet dipped mane. “And please, call me Atlanta.” Her voice was soft in its request, not wishing to demand anything of the mare. “Now, dear Pyra, tell me what brings you to the bluffs on such a gloomy morn? Does the safety of numbers not appeal to you? It is alright if it doesn’t, I too enjoy solitude.” Atlanta was curious about this mare and genuine in her questions. She kept her stride matched to Pyras, harks still listening for signs of danger.
